Rick Lofaro

Rick graduated from Colorado State University in 1993 with a B.S. from the College of Natural Resources. Rick joined Roaring Fork Conservancy in 1998 and was promoted to Executive Director in May of 2005. Formerly, Rick oversaw the River Watch Program that conducts monthly water sampling throughout the Roaring Fork Watershed. Rick also serves as a technical advisor to Counties and Municipalities in the Roaring Fork Valley. He addresses community watershed issues, such as riparian land use and water quality violations, and works as a liaison between the public and regulatory entities. Roaring Fork Conservancy offers in-kind services to create ecological restoration plans for disturbed areas that are in violation of land use codes. He is also a board president of the Colorado Watershed Assembly. He has worked as a naturalist in Colorado and as a fishing guide in northwestern Montana. Rick enjoys his family, fishing, rafting, hunting, and hiking within the magnificent Roaring Fork Valley. |

Sharon Clarke
Watershed Action Director

Sharon specializes in regional geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), water resources, and aquatic habitat. She has both a B.S. and M.S. in Geography. Before Sharon started providing GIS support on Roaring Fork Conservancy's Stream Flow Survey Project in 2004, she worked for the Forest Science Department at Oregon State University coordinating and conducting regional GIS analysis for aquatic ecosystems. Sharon took on responsibilities for Land & Water Conservation programming at Roaring Fork Conservancy in 2008. Sharon is the prinicipal author of the State of the Roaring Fork Watershed Report and the Roaring Fork Watershed Plan. Currently she is overseeing a major restoration project in Coal Basin, spearheading implementation of the Roaring Fork Watershed Plan, and working to implement water conservation recommendations from Roaring Fork Conservancy's recently published Opportunities for Water Conservation report. |

Heather Tattersall

Heather has worked with Roaring Fork Conservancy in the areas of land conservation and policy since 2010. She has B.S. in biology from Providence College and a Master's in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University. She has also completed a residency in enviornmental education at Teton Science School. With Roaring Fork Conservancy, Heather is working on Colorado 303d water quality listings, land conservation efforts, and policy issues. Heather is also a certified raft guide and ski instructor. |

Kristjan Danis

Kristjan grew up in San Diego, but he has also lived in San Francisco and spent his four years of high school living in Japan. He moved to Boulder in 2010 to attend the University of Colorado, where he currently studies ecology and evolutionary biology. He is passionate about the outdoors and appreciates the science behind ecosystems and their preservation. He has been a raft guide in Colorado and enjoys spending time volunteering for the Wildlands Restoration Volunteers as a crew leader. On the weekends you will find Kristjan fly fishing, hunting, or backpacking through the Rockies. During the winter he likes to go snowboarding, spend time visiting with family in California, and work on his skills in the kitchen. Post graduation, Kristjan hopes to work outdoors managing land and preserving wildlife. |

Moss has been involved with Roaring Fork Conservancy since 2006. Moss received his B.A. from Rhodes College and his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law. He has authored several reports with Roaring Fork Conservancy including: contributor to the State of the Roaring Fork Watershed Report, Why the Roaring Fork Watershed Plan Matters, Illuminating the Way Ahead, Front Range Water Supply Planning Update, and Opportunities for Water Conservation. Moss is the owner of Elk Mountain Consulting, LLC and served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the United Republic of Tanzania, where he worked at the Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park, on the border with Mozambique. |

Bill Hoblitzell
Hydrologist |
Bill is currently wrapping up an MS in Environmental Sciences and Policy at Northern Arizona University focused on watershed science and GIS. He originally received a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in hydrology at the University of Virginia. Falling in love with rivers early on while growing up in West Virginia, to date he has worked as whitewater guide across the US and India. Between seasons in California, Montana, and Arizona, Bill has called central Colorado home on and off for the last decade. He is familiar with many of the region’s conservation and environmental issues through work with watershed groups in Crested Butte and Eagle County. In addition to current projects with the Roaring Fork Conservancy, Bill works for S.K.Mason Environmental LLC and serves as a Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator with the Eagle River Watershed Council. |

Seth Kurt Mason

Seth received his M.S. in Land Resources and Environmental Sciences from Montana State University and his B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He specializes in hydrological sciences and the deployment and operation of data collection and management systems. Seth is the owner of S.K.Mason Environmental, LLC, which aims to provide clients with high-quality data tools and interpretations to aid in development of public policy and watershed-scale natural resource use solutions. Seth's goal is to assist local organizations and municipalities implement strategies that maintain high levels of environmental quality and provide for long-term stewardship of our local places. |

Lindsey Palardy
Volunteer Environmental Policy Consultant |
Lindsey specializes in environmental policy, with a focus on water and public health. She holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, an M.A. in Environmental Studies from Brown University, and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Lindsey’s undergraduate training focused on groundwater quality and management, and her graduate research explored the perception and communication of environmental health risks following Hurricane Katrina. She has worked with federal and state government, nonprofit, and private entities to tackle complex environmental law and policy issues. Most recently, Lindsey worked for the Pew Environment Group in Washington, D.C. As a new arrival to the Roaring Fork Valley, she is excited to spend time outside hiking, biking, and skiing. |

Rose Ann is an attorney and the founder of Kootenay Resources, LLC. Since 2005, she has worked with Roaring Fork Conservancy on a variety of projects, including the Roaring Fork Watershed Plan. Prior to moving to the Roaring Fork Valley, Rose Ann enjoyed a successful legal career with two D.C.-based international law firms and served as in-house counsel at NPR, the USOC and The TriZetto Group. Rose Ann’s background also includes extensive work in regional planning. As a Regional Planner & Policy Analyst for the Great Lakes Basin Commission, she participated in the Great Lakes Environmental Planning Study. She later worked as a planner for Pitkin County and managed its Environmental Health & Natural Resources Department. Rose Ann received her B.S. degree in Natural Resources, Master’s degree in Regional Planning (Water Resources Policy & Management) and J.D., cum laude from the University of Michigan. |

Tim O'Keefe

Tim received his B.S. in biology from Davidson College in North Carolina. He also studied ecology and conservation in Madagascar with the School for International Training. Since 2001, he has directed Roaring Fork Conservancy's education program, which includes school programs, educational field trips, interpretive programs, website, publications, and the River Guide School. Tim is a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) and Certified Interpretive Trainer (CIT) with the National Association for Interpretation. Tim is involved with the Colorado Water Education Task Force and the NPS Colorado Education & Outreach Committee. In 2008, took on the responsibility of managing the River Center planning and design, helping Roaring Fork Conservancy receive approvals from for the project in 2011. Prior to joining Roaring Fork Conservancy, Tim taught environmental education in Aspen, Colorado; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and the seacoast of New Hampshire. Tim loves spending time with his family outdoors and being part of the leadership at Crossroads Church. |

Sarah Johnson

Sarah received her B.S. in Biology and a minor in Geology from Missouri State University in 2005. Since 2008, she has conducted much of the education programs at Roaring Fork Conservancy. Sarah has also taught in-school and residential environmental education, conducted community adult education and interpretive programs, lead wilderness backpacking and canoe trips, and been a National Park Service ranger in multiple places from New England to the Pacific Northwest and in-between. Participating in the Grand Canyon Semester program sponsored by NAU and Grand Canyon National Park, she became passionate about water in the West. She volunteers as the coordinator of the Roaring Fork Valley Environmental Education Regional Network. Sarah is a Certified Interpretive Guide and Certified Interpretive Trainer, Wilderness First Responder, Licensed Utah River Guide, Leave No Trace Trainer and Avalanche Safety I trained. She also enjoys playing music, gardening, and exploring the mountains during all seasons. |

Elizabeth Munn

Liz Munn is a Graduate Student and Wyss Scholar at the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment. The focus of her studies is on Environmental Policy and Planning with an emphasis on collaborative approaches to landscape-scale restoration and water resource management. Liz holds a BA in Theater and Geology from Whitman College. Born and raised in California, Liz spent several years in New York City working in the theater industry before returning west. During five years with Naturalists at Large, she coordinated and led outdoor education trips throughout California and Arizona. In three summers with Aim High, she served as a Teacher and Site Director, working to bridge the achievement gap for middle-school students in the Bay Area. In her spare time she loves to play music, tell stories, or find adventure and peace in the wilderness! |

Elise Osenga

Elise Osenga graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Biology and English in 2008. She soon got sucked into the world of rivers through SPREE, a non-profit in Denver. This experience on the South Platte sealed her interest in water and its impact on local society, not to mention environmental education! Most recently Elise worked as a Park Interpreter at South Platte Park in Littleton. Elise seves on the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education annual conference committee and is also the Colorado Representative for the National Association for Interpretation's Region 7. She is a Certified Interpretive Guide with a passion for learning about the natural world. She moved Basalt in 2012 with her husband Nate and began volunteering for Roaring Fork Conservancy. She currently assists with educational programs. Elise's interests include baking, rock climbing, and poking around outside. |

Chad Rudow

Chad joined Roaring Fork Conservancy in August of 2006. He earned his B.S. in Biology from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Chad has experience as a whitewater rafting guide and ski instructor in Glenwood Springs, as well as caving guide, interpreter, and manager for Glenwood Caverns. As Water Quality Coordinator Chad can be seen all over the Roaring Fork Watershed collecting water samples and monitoring the health of local streams and rivers. He also manages a group of dedicated volunteers who conduct water sampling on their local streams. He is a Certified Interpretive Guide as well as a Colorado Outward Bound alumni. Chad enjoys numerous outdoor pursuits, spending time with his family, and playing soccer with friends year-round in the Glenwood Springs area. |

Sarah Woods

Sarah joined Roaring Fork Conservancy in December of 2010 but has co-chaired the River Rendezvous since 2009. Originally from Mississippi, she graduated from University of Arkansas and then lived in Los Angeles before moving to Basalt in 1993 with her husband Robert. Once Sarah saw river education classes in action, she decided to start our Children’s Water Education Fund as she saw a definite need to continue teaching our Valley school children the importance of keeping our waters healthy and clean.Sarah is responsible not only for fundraising for our programs, but also for securing the donations and grants needed to build the River Center. This monumental project is underway and we are searching for a lead gift partner that will allow us to begin building in 2013. Sarah has opened new doors for the River Center project that had not been considered in the past and we look forward to many successes in the coming years. Sarah lives up the Fryingpan with her husband Robert and their three dogs. |

Claire joined Roaring Fork Conservancy staff in January 2010. She grew up on the beach in Florida and swam competitively through college so she has a love for the water. She graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Commercial Recreation. She enjoys being outdoors camping, skiing, hiking, running or playing with her kids. One of her favorite previous jobs was seven years with skier services on Snowmass Mountain where she put on weekly races and picnics for the kids ski school. Claire has lived in the valley for 15 years and is now residing in Basalt with her family. |

Austin Owen

Austin joined the Roaring Fork Conservancy in the summer of 2011. She was born and raised in Aspen and went to the Aspen Public Schools, partaking in many of the school water programs put on by RFC. After graduating from Aspen High in 2010, she moved to California where she currently attends the University of San Diego, majoring in International Business with a minor in International Relations. Austin loves traveling and photography and recently spent four months studying abroad in Morocco. She is currently a student at the University of San Diego. When she is not enjoying the beach in San Diego, she loves coming back to Colorado where she likes to ski, hike, camp, and spend time in the Roaring Fork Valley with her friends and family. |
