Ecological LLC, and staff from Pitkin County Open Space & Trails and Roaring Fork Conservancy for an evening guided walk on this amazing property! Filoha, the Ethiopian word for hot water, includes hot springs that host one of the few firefly populations in our valley. Please dress appropriately; walks will happen rain or shine. Roaring Fork Headwaters Water Diversions Tour

Meet at: Lost Man Creek Trailhead (CO 82 Mile Marker 55), east of Aspen, Colorado
Learn firsthand how water is collected from the headwaters of the Roaring Fork River and diverted under the Continental Divide. Join Allen Ringle of the Twin Lakes Reservoir & Canal Company and Sarah Johnson of Roaring Fork Conservancy for this informative tour. We’ll spend the first part of our tour seeing Lost Man Reservoir and the Roaring Fork collection dam & tunnel. Later, we’ll explore Grizzly Reservoir and the four mile long Twin Lake tunnel that brings water to the eastern slope. Bring a lunch and questions for our experts about the plumbing of the Roaring Fork headwaters. Please dress appropriately; the tour will happen rain or shine. Spend the late afternoon with a Roaring Fork Conservancy naturalist on a River Walk along the Roaring Fork River and Castle Creek on the Meadowlands Open Space. We’ll explore the confluence of Castle Creek and the Roaring Fork River and learn about the local flora and fauna of this valuable riparian area. This naturalist guided walk will occur before the Aspen Music Festival and School concert in the Benedict Music Tent. All participants are welcome to enjoy the 6:00 pm concert performance by either purchasing a ticket for admission to the Benedict Music Tent or sitting on the lawn outside the Tent. Please wear good walking shoes and dress appropriately; the event will happen rain or shine. Each year Roaring Fork Conservancy offers an amazing opportunity for 140 members of the public to experience the Roaring Fork River first-hand for free! Join us for this amazing half-day float along the lower Roaring Fork River. Bring your own boat or jump on one provided by Blazing Adventures or Rock Gardens Rafting for this morning of sightseeing, exploration, and eating (at the cookout at the end of the float). Naturalists from around the valley will be on boats to offer insights during the two-hour float. We will float rain or shine. This event is open to the public ages 8 and up, however, space is limited and registration is required. Registration for this event will open May 1, 2010. Donations welcome.
