I'm Bringing My Own Boat

If you choose to bring your own boat to River Float please keep in mind YOU are responsible for your safety and well-being and the safety of those on your boat. We require the following of all participants with their own boats:

  1. All persons on your boat MUST wear life jackets at all times.
  2. Boat captains MUST be competent at river navigation and use of their equipment, especially safety equipment.
  3. Each private boat is responsible for maintenance of their own equipment.
  4. Please ask if unsure of your abilities or equipment BEFORE the day of the event.
  5. All private boat captains MUST meet with RFC staff at 8:30 am at Veltus Park the day of the event and ALL participants must sign a waiver.
Private Boat Shuttle Logistics
  • Please drop your boat, equipment, and party members at the Carbondale Boat Launch.
  • Boat captains must check in at Veltus Park in Glenwood Springs by 8:30am.
  • Boat captains need to bring signed waivers for all participants to Veltus Park Check-In.
  • Boat captains can leave their vehicle in the designated parking area near Veltus Park and ride in a shuttle vehicle back to the Carbondale Boat Launch.
Habitat Stamp Required
Each June, River Float launches from the Carbondale boat ramp, a state of Colorado property. Colorado Division of Wildlife requires a Habitat Stamp to use this facility. Each participant between the ages of 18 and 65 is required to purchase their own 2008 habitat stamp for this event. Stamps are about $10.25 separately or about $5 with a hunting or fishing license and are good for the whole calendar year. Please do your part to help protect our local wildlife.
