River Float 2010: Something new this year
After six years of providing a free public float for almost 850 participants, Roaring Fork Conservancy is taking a different approach with River Float 2010. Things are changing quickly in the water world, and now, more than ever, is the time to make some critical decisions on water in western Colorado. With developments in water policy over the past several years, we decided it was the elected officials’ turn to learn about some of the regional water issues affecting our watershed. This year we hope local, regional and state elected officials and top agency staff join us for a floating summit to discuss solutions to some of these looming water threats. So while we're not offering our River Float to the public in 2010, we want to thank everyone who participated in past floats. We encourage you to join us for one or more of our 30 Watershed Explorations this year to learn more about important places and issues in our watershed and to stay engaged.
SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
River Float History In 2004, Roaring Fork Conservancy decided that the best way to teach people about our rivers was to get them on the river. And so River Float was born. Each year we have taken over 140 people down the lower Roaring Fork River teaching them about wildlife, water issues and riparian habitat. We hope you can join us on the river!
