In 2002, Roaring Fork Conservancy commissioned local artist Paula Chandler David to create an image of the Roaring Fork River for Roaring Fork Conservancy's latest poster. Working with Executive Director Jeanne Beaudry, they chose a spot along the bank off Two Rivers Road for the painting. Eventually settling on the rock bar on the north side of the river, Paula admits, "If I had had waders, I would have gone out into the river to do the painting."
Paula painted on a cold fall day when the fall colors were extraordinary. "I wanted to preserve the moment that day along the river and give people a sense for stewardship. My hope is that people would preserve and honor what was created." Paula's finished work beautifully captures these ideas and response to her art has been extremely positive. Jeanne Beaudry adds, "We are fortunate to work with such a talented artist."
Posters of Paula's work measure 24" by 12" and are suitable for framing. To obtain a copy, stop by Roaring Fork Conservancy's office at 201 Basalt Center Circle, Suite 140, in Basalt or email Roaring Fork Conservancy at info@roaringfork.org.
