The River Center will reconnect people to their rivers
Our vision is to establish a premier river and water center for residents, visitors, and students in the Roaring Fork Watershed. The dream began to become a reality in 2005 when four Cornerstone Donors stepped up to purchase the land for the River Center. Since that time we have worked to develop a center that will provide exceptional educational, research and water management opportunities for our community for generations to come.
River Center Goal: To change people’s relationship with water by creating a culture of valuing water, rivers and watershed in our region.
The River Center will:
- become a regional hub for river, water and watershed‐related education, research, policy, and collaboration.
- exemplify sustainability in relation resource efficiency, financial solvency, and community demonstration.
- provide innovative, interactive, layered learning opportunities and experiences for diverse audiences through programming and non‐personal media (exhibits).
- cause people to re‐think their relationship to water, provoke thought about current and future decisions we must make individually and corporately, and provide opportunities for action.
