River Guide School

On-Water Trainings for Commerical River Guides

Above, Conservancy naturalist Rick Lofaro instructs river guides in natural history topics on a stop along the Colorado River near Glenwood Springs. Each spring Roaring Fork Conservancy offers sessions of its River Guide School. These three-hour on-water trainings allow dozens of commercial river guides each year to learn about the Roaring Fork Watershed's flora, fauna, water issues, and cultural history. Trainings are discussion oriented and tailored to meet interests and needs of the participating guides. Each guides receives packets with informational sheets and resources as a diploma. Thanks to the participating companies who continue to make the River Guide School a success. To participate in this spring's River Guide School, please contact Tim O'Keefe or Rick Lofaro at Roaring Fork Conservancy at (970) 927-1290.
