Summary:

Stream flows across the Roaring Fork Watershed continue to decrease, with rivers flowing a dismal 25-45% of normal for this time of year. One significant ecological concern we anticipate is elevated stream temperatures. Above average water temperatures can negatively impact aquatic organisms, including trout. Roaring Fork Conservancy is launching our citizen science water temperature monitoring program, Hot Spots for Trout, this month! The rivers need YOUR help. For details on this program and how you can help monitor areas of concern in our local rivers and streams, please visit www.roaringfork.org/drought/hot-spots-for-trout/.
