SUMMARY

Rivers and streams throughout the Roaring Fork Watershed are flowing 8%-80% of normal for this time of year. Following several weeks of increased flows, releases from Ruedi Reservoir decreased this week, reducing flows on the Fryingpan and Lower Roaring Fork Rivers. Ruedi Reservoir, in coordination with several other reservoirs in Western Colorado, release water to benefit endangered fish within the 15-Mile Reach in the Colorado River near Grand Junction. This week, increased releases from Homestake Reservoir in our neighboring Eagle River Watershed triggered the reduction in releases from Ruedi. With continued lack of precipitation and none in the forecast, 50% of Colorado is now experiencing extreme drought.
